Masthead
Contributing writers, analysts, and podcast guests are credited on every piece they appear in. Our contributor community is open: qualified readers can pitch a contribution at any time.
Editorial standards
We hold every piece we publish to the same tests:
- Evidence first. Claims of fact are sourced. Where a matter is contested, we say so and show the strongest version of the opposing view.
- Analysis is labelled. News reporting, analysis, and opinion are visually and editorially distinct. Opinion pieces represent their authors, not the publication.
- Independence. No government, party, funder, or advertiser reviews our work before publication. Conflicts of interest are disclosed on the piece.
- Right of reply. People and institutions criticised in our reporting are given a fair opportunity to respond.
- Attribution. We credit the work of others, link to primary sources where possible, and do not publish generative content as though it were human reporting.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix the article and append a dated correction note describing what changed. Errors of substance are corrected prominently; typographical fixes are made silently. To request a correction, use the contact form or write to the editor through the details on our About page.
Comments & moderation
Comments are open to signed-in readers and are screened by an automated moderation system before human review. We remove content that is abusive, defamatory, or off-topic. Repeated abuse leads to a ban. If your comment was blocked in error, you may request a review.
